August 5: P. V. Sindhu won the silver medal at the 2018 Badminton World Championships.

August 5: Andrea Dovizioso wins the Czech Republic Grand Prix, his 100th win for Ducati.

August 13: Rafael Nadal beat Stefanos Tsisipas to win the Rogers Cup.

August 18: India beat England by 2013 runs in the third Test of its tour of England.

August 20: Novak Djokovic got past Roger Federer to clinch the Western & Southern Open (Cincinnati Masters)

August 23: Ankita Raina won the bronze medal in women's singled and became only the second woman to do so since Sania Mirza in 2006.

August 26: Sebastian Vettel won the Belgian Grand Prix ahead of Lewis Hamilton to remain in the hunt for the F1 title.

August 27: Neeraj Chopra threw a national record distance of 88.06m to pocket the gold medal in the men's javelin throw.
