Archery selection trials: Jyothi Surekha, Abhishek emerge on top

The top four will compete in World Cup I and III, while the next four will participate in World Cup II.

V. Jyothi Surekha impressed in the selection trials by winning 10 out of 11 one-on-one duels.

V. Jyothi Surekha won 10 out of 11 one-on-one duels to emerge as the best woman archer in the compound division of the National selection trials which concluded at the KIIT University ground here on Tuesday.

Abhishek Verma, who won eight matches, was the best in men's trials following the ranking rounds and round robin matches.

The top four will compete in World Cup I and III, while the next four will participate in World Cup II.  The top three will take part in the World championships.

The selected archers:

Men: 1. Abhishek Verma (12), 2. Bhagwan Das (10), 3. Rajat Chauhan (10), 4. Aman Saini (9), 5. Sangampreet Singh Bisla (7), 6. Praveen Kumar (6), 7. Gurwinder Singh (5), 8. Lovejot Singh (4.5).

Women: 1. V. Jyothi Surekha (12), 2. Muskan Kirar (11), Raj Kaur (9.5), 4. Swati Dudhwal (8.5), 5. Monali Jadhav (8), 6. Parveena (7), 7. Priya Gurjar (6), 8. Anita Kumari (4.5).
