Ankita Raina assures India of another medal

Sania Mirza is the only other Indian to win medals in women's singles, a silver in 2006 and a bronze in 2010.

Ankita Raina progressed to the semifinals of the women's singles today, confirming another medal for India in the Asian Games.

India’s top-ranked women’s singles player Anikta breezed past Eudice Chong 6-4, 6-1 of Hong Kong in their quarterfinal match after being 1-4 down at one stage.

She won the first set in 54 minutes and took only 27 minutes to claim the second set.

Ankita came back from behind to take the first set 6-4 against Chong of Hong Kong. she was trailing 0-3 and 1-4 at the beginning of the match before staging a comeback.

Ankita will win India's third singles medal in women’s tennis at the Asian Games, Sania Mirza being only other Indian to win medals in women's singles (silver in 2006, bronze in 2010).
