Bhubaneswar confirmed as Asian Championship venue

After weeks of uncertainty, Bhubaneswar has been confirmed as the venue of the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship.

“The Odisha Government has officially given its consent to host the championship today,” said C.K. Valson, the Athletics Federation of India secretary, on Wednesday.

But he said that the dates would be confirmed at the Asian Athletics Association’s council meeting in Thailand on Thursday.

The championship, which was originally scheduled to be held in Ranchi from June 1 to 4, was later postponed to July 1 to 4.

The AFI, according to sources, is keen to have the event from July 6 to 10.
