The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has selected a 13-member Indian team for the eighth Asian Indoor Athletics championship to be held in Tehran, Iran, from February 1 to 3.
The selection committee, with Olympian Gurbachan Singh Randhawa as the chairman, has also selected a 36-member squad to compete in the Asian Games Test event to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from February 11 to 14.
It may be recalled that Jakarta is scheduled to host the 18th Asian Games from August 18 to September 2.

The secretary of the AFI, CK Valson, stated that the athletes were selected on the basis of their performances in the international and national events including the national junior championship.
"The team is short as we have excluded certain events due to inexperience of our athletes on a 200m track’’, Valson said.
Meanwhile, the team for the 14th Asian Cross Country championship to be held in Guiyang, China, on March 15, will be named on the basis of the performance in the 52nd National Cross Country championship to be
held in Goa on January 14.
