National race-walking to go international

The National race-walking championship will go international next year. The meet will be held in New Delhi on February 18 and 19.

The National race-walking championship will go international next year. The meet will be held in New Delhi on February 18 and 19.

The national track and field season will begin with the Indian Grand Prix in Patiala on February 27 and it will be followed by the Federation Cup, also in Patiala, in early March.

400m, javelin throw Nationals

The first 400m Nationals, which were planned to be held this month, will now be held in Mysuru in July while Lucknow will be the venue for the first National Javelin Challenge in September.

The AFI’s 2018 athletics calendar: National cross country (Goa, Jan. 14). International race-walking meet (Delhi, Feb. 18-19). Indian GP-1 (IGP, Feb. 27, Patiala), Federation Cup for seniors (Patiala, March 5-8). Federation Cup for juniors (Chennai, May 5-7). 400m Nationals (July 1, Mysuru). IGP-2 (July 6, Vidhya Nagar, Karnataka), IGP-3 (July 8, Chennai). Inter-State Nationals (July 15-18, Kolkata). Youth Nationals (Vadodara, July 15-18). National Javelin Challenge (Lucknow, Sept. 9-10). Zonal championships (Sept. 15-16, Bihar, Guntur, Haryana, Goa). Open Nationals (Bhubaneswar, Sept. 25-28). Junior Nationals (Ranchi, Nov. 2-6). Inter-District Junior Nationals (Nov. 24-26, Vizag or Bengaluru).
