Spotakova wins another world title in javelin

Czech Barbora Spotakova added a second world javelin gold to her trophy cabinet in London on Tuesday.

Spotakova, the 36-year-old two-time Olympic champion who also has a world gold (2007) and two previous world silvers to her name, threw a best of 66.76 metres.

 

Lingwei Li of China claimed silver with 66.25m, team-mate Huihui Lyu taking bronze (65.26).

Kipruto masters Jager for steeplechase gold

Kenyan Conseslus Kipruto mastered the threat of American favourite Evan Jager to win the world men's 3000m steeplechase gold on Tuesday.

The Olympic champion kicked with 300 metres remaining and held on to see off the threat posed by Morocco's Soufiane Elbakkali, who also surged past Jager coming into the final straight.

Kipruto timed 8min 14.12 sec, with Elbakkali taking silver at 0.37sec and Jager bronze (8:15.53).
