Usha invites sports minister to inaugurate her academy

Ace athlete and coach P. T. Usha invited the Union Sports Minister, Vijay Goel, to inaugurate her academy — Usha School of Athletics — in Kozhikode on June 15.

Usha, who was in Delhi with her trainees for the Indian Grand Prix, met the sports minister at his residence on Tuesday.

The government had sanctioned 8.5 crore rupees for the academy, situated on 30 acres of land, that has an eight-lane synthetic track, a mud track, a 40-bed hostel, a gymnasium among other things.

The academy will have qualified coaches, physios and other experts to help the players.

The sports minister promised all support for the academy and hoped that it would help the best talent to represent the country on the world stage.
