Nadal ousts Bopanna in China Open doubles

Rafael Nadal was part of Spain's Davis Cup team that whitewashed India 5-0 in the World Group play-off tie but Rohan Bopanna did not feature due to a knee injury.

India's Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Daniel Nestor lost their opening match of China Open against Spanish great Rafael Nadal and Pablo Carreno Busta 6-7(7-3), 4-6 here on Monday.

Nadal was part of the Spanish Davis Cup team that whitewashed India 5-0 in the World Group play-off tie in New Delhi but Bopanna did not feature in the tie due to a knee injury. Saketh Myneni had played with Leander Paes in the doubles rubber, in which Nadal played with Marc Lopez.

Paes and his German partner Andre Begemann, the wild-card entrants, also lost their campaign in the USD 4,164,780 ATP 500 event against American Kack Sock and Australian Bernard Tomic despite dominating the first set. Paes and Begemann lost 6-3, 5-7, 7-10.
