Paes-Zverev lose first round at Cincinnati

The duo lost 2-6, 7-6(2), 10-6 to French Open champions Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez.

Leander Paes in partnership with Alexander Zverev of Germany was unable to capitalise on a robust start as the duo was beaten 2-6, 7-6(2), 10-6 by French Open champions Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez of Spain in the doubles first round of the $5,244,930 ATP tennis tournament in Cincinnati.

In the ITF women’s tournament in Thailand, former Asian junior champion Pranjala Yadlapalli along with Karman Kaur Thandi progressed into the quarterfinals. Qualifier Pranjala who beat eighth seed Yuuki Tanaka in three sets will challenge the top seed Luksika Kumkhum of Thailand. Karman cruised past fourth seed Shiho Akita of Japan to set up a quarterfinal against another Japanese Kyoka Okamura.

In the ITF grade-3 junior tournament in Harare, Shrivalli Rashmikaa beat the girls top seed Hala Khaled of Egypt 6-4, 6-4 in the pre-quarterfinals.
