India juniors qualify for World Mixed Team play-off

India colts dished out a dominating performance, notching up convincing wins over Bulgaria and Finland to reach the play offs of the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships, here today.

India defeated Bulgaria 5-0 and then thrashed Finland by the same margin in the second tie to top the group G2.

Against Bulgaria, Mahima Aggarwal and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy started the proceedings for India as they spanked Maria Delcheva and Ivan Panev 21-8 21-12 in just 18 minutes in the mixed doubles match to give India a 1-0 lead.

Lakshya Sen then thrashed Daniel Nikolov 21-10 21-12 in a 26-minute match men’s singles match and before Shikha Gautam trounced Mihaela Neycheva 21-15 21-8 in 23 minutes in a women’s singles clash to help India take an unassailable 3-0 lead.

In men’s doubles, Krishna Prasad Garaga and Satwiksairaj blew away Ivan Panev and Dimitar Yanakiev 21-5 21-14 in just 19 minutes and then women’s doubles pair of Mahima and Mithula U K brushed aside Maria Delcheva and Mihaela Neycheva 21-8 21-11 to seal the tie for India.

In the tie against Finland, Kuhoo Garg and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy defeated Jere Ermark and Inalotta Suutarinen 21-12 21-9.

In men singles, Mithun Manjunath beat Jesper Paul 21-13 21-19 Kanika Kanwal defeated Maija Krzywacki 21-12 21-19 in women’s singles.

In men’s doubles, Krishna Prasad Garaga and Dhruv Kapila beat Jere ermark and Jesper Paul 21-12 21-8.
