Saina Nehwal happy with her comeback trail

"I think if only I had won the first game which was a very close affair, things would have been different. Obviously, Marin got the confidence after clinching that exciting first game and she was a different player with her hand speed, sharp shorts and fast movements," Saina commented.

A smiling Saina Nehwal felt she was really feeling good after a long gap. “It is not possible to regain your peak fitness and form after such a serious surgery. It takes some time and I am glad with the way I have been playing so far on my comeback trail after Olympics ,” the Awadhe Warriors star player remarked after losing to Carolina Marin of Hyderabad Hunters in the Premier Badminton League match here on Monday.

“I think if only I had won the first game which was a very close affair, things would have been different. Obviously, Marin got the confidence after clinching that exciting first game and she was a different player with her hand speed, sharp shorts and fast movements,” Saina commented.

“I think my movements are still sluggish and I am looking forward to improve them in the days to come. I hope to be fit for the All England championship since I have time to regain my complete fitness level. But the best part is that I am really feeling good,” the ace shuttler pointed out.

“It is apparent that I am not still at my best and let me remind you it is not that easy to be so after such a long gap from injury and surgery,” she reiterated to a query. “I need more matches to play to be at my best. But, I am confident of achieving that,” she insisted.

On the 11-point format in this PBL edition, Saina felt it was too fast and that if it had been the 21-point format she would have engaged the opponents in long rallies and tried for better control of the shuttle.

On Warriors team chances in the League, the star shuttler felt confident that her team would pull of big wins and are a strong contender for the title.
