Former internationals Sanave Thomas and Rupesh Kumar, the top seeds, brushed aside Switzerland’s Philippe Gabella and Raphael Lienhard and marched into the above-35 men’s doubles quarterfinals of the Manorama BWF World Senior badminton championships at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium here on Thursday.

The second-seeded Indians, V. Diju and J.B.S. Vidhyadhar, also made the last-eight stage with an easy 21-11, 21-11 victory over English-Japanese pair of Rudy Sototo and Ryo Tazo.

Meanwhile in the above-55 men’s singles, Harjit Singh made a stunning comeback to defeat Germany’s Fred Fiebeg 14-21, 21-12, 21-9 and booked his quarterfinal berth.
