P. V. Sindhu clinched her major title -- China Open -- since winning the silver medal in Rio Olympics. She defeated eighth seed Sun Yu 21-11 17-21 21-11
Sindhu reached better, was more accurate and swifter than Sun in the first game. The seventh seed raced to a 3-1 lead and pulled away to 11-5 before changing sides. A flurry of smashes and Sun's errors gave Sindhu the first game.
In the second, Sun erred rarely. Despite trailing 7-11 at the chageover, Sun's accurate smashes and deft drops won her the game.
Sindhu won the third 21-11 after leading 11-8. She reached the final after defeating South Korea's Sung Ji Hyun 11-21 23-21 21-19.
