Srikanth is eyeing a grand finish this year in the Dubai BWF World Super Series final.

India’s premier badminton player Kidambi Srikanth says he is going through a dream phase in his career and that his confidence is on a new high.

Fresh from his victory in the Denmark Open , Srikanth, who now has three Super Series titles this year, is visibly elated at his latest win over South Korean Lee Hyun II.

“It was immensely satisfying that this win also means that I break into the top five in the world ,” the champion shuttler told Sportstar on arrival in Paris on Monday for the French Open.

“It was not the final I expected to be. Perhaps, he was a bit too tired after a grueling semifinal the previous evening,” a sober Srikanth said about his 25-minute demolition of the opponent in the final.

“Given his experience, I was in no mood to take things easy. But, again, I am pleased that every aspect of my game fell in place at the right time,” the 24-year-old shuttler said.

“Anyway, winning Denmark Open will be a special feeling. This win only serves a reminder that my two previous Super Series titles (Indonesian and the Australian Opens) were no flash in the pan,” he said with a big smile.

“Definitely, I wish to keep winning more and more Super Series titles. That’s the only way looking forward. These rankings were never on my mind at any stage of my career. For, they are the direct outcome of your success at the highest level. So, the first objective is to keep winning major titles,” he explained. “Well, to be consistent over a longer period is the bigger goal ahead for me,” he added.

Does this have something to do with Mulyo joining the Indian team? “Of course. His training methods are different and very productive too. And, when someone like him and Gopi sir combine, the results are bound to be different,” he said.

Not surprisingly, Srikanth is eyeing a grand finish this year in the Dubai BWF World Super Series final.
