A platform for young basketball champs

ABL’17 was held on three consecutive days, from March 22nd to 24th, at the J. Jayalalithaa Indoor Basketball Stadium in Chennai.

Twenty one teams from across Tamil Nadu took part in the inaugural edition of the ABL — an inter-district basketball league inaugurated this year by Amity Global Business School (Chennai).

The tournament was held on three consecutive days, from March 22nd to 24th, at the J. Jayalalithaa Indoor Basketball Stadium here. The event was inaugurated by Mr. V. Balakrishnan, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Mylapore). He inaugurated the league by shooting the first basket.

Loyola Engineering College, DG Vaishnav, SRM University and Hindustan University qualified from the group stages. In the first semi-final, Loyola defeated DG Viashnav, while SRM overcame a stiff challenge from Hindustan in the second match. Loyola defeated SRM in the final to be crowned as ABL’17 champion.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at the Amity Global Business School campus in Chennai where Mr. M. Ravi, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, presided over the ceremony and handed the prizes. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 and the runners with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000. The player of the tournament, Santhosh Mani (Loyola), was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5,000.
