Jimmer Fredette could be nearing a return to the NBA.
The Suns are planning to meet with the 30-year-old guard on Thursday, according to a report from 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. The team has an open roster spot and could sign Fredette for the rest of 2018-19, the report says.
Fredette had been playing for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. But, they were eliminated from the playoffs and their season came to an end earlier this week, according to the report.
The former BYU star was originally selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2011 draft. The guard, however, struggled defensively and bounced around the league, playing four teams over five seasons.
Fredette, who last played in the NBA game with the Knicks in 2015-16, has averaged six points and 1.4 assists over 235 career games. He has shot 38.1 percent from behind the 3-point line.
