TN girls defend national junior basketball title

The Tamil Nadu girls team registered a 77-58 victory over Kerala in the final of the 69th National junior basketball championship to retain their title.

Tamil Nadu girls defended their title with a 77-58 victory over Kerala in the final of the 69th National junior basketball championship at the Guru Nanak Dev Stadium on Monday. The Tamil Nadu girls had earlier humbled Uttar Pradesh 78-49 in the semifinals.

Kerala, however, won the boys title, beating Rajasthan 108-101 after trailing 49-52 at half time. Kerala had dethroned the champion Punjab in the semifinals, after having lost to Rajasthan in the league stage.

Rajeev Singh from Rajasthan and Vaishnavi Yadav from Uttar Pradesh were adjudged the 'most valuable players' in the men’s and women’s sections respectively.
