Leading Indian boxers — M.C. Mary Kom, Amit Panghal and Gaurav Bidhuri along with 50 top foreign boxers will be seen in action in the inaugural amateur boxing league, Big Bout – Indian Boxing League, to be held at three venues from October 20 to November 9.
With five bouts across different weight categories between two teams each day, there will be a total of 90 bouts over 18 days, said a release on Friday.
“With Indian boxers doing exceptionally well in all major international tournaments, Big Bout will be another feather in the cap of Indian boxing as the first amateur boxing league in the world,” said Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh.
The organisers have invited auctions of live digital streaming rights for the first three seasons. The league has set a base price of Rs. 4 crore for India rights and Rs. 4.5 crore for the global rights (including India) per season.
The bid will open on August 16.
“The Big Bout-Indian Boxing League will provide nearly 50 hours of power-packed entertainment,” said Atul Pande, managing director of SportzLive.
