World Women's Boxing Championship 2018: Mary Kom advances, Sarita exits

Mary Kom won her fight by a unanimous decision while Sarita Devi lost by split deciison to Ireland's Kellie Anne Harrington in the preliminary round at the Women's World Boxing Championship 2018.

Hello and welcome to Sportstar's live coverage of the World Women's Boxing Championship 2018 bout between Sarita Devi and Kellie Harrington.

 

Sarita Devi is out! Kellie Anne Harrington wins by split decision (3:2). That was a close one that ends in disappointment for Sarita and the home fans.

Round 3

- India thinks they've won, Ireland think they've won. That's how close this is. It was a close finish to the final round.

- Sarita picks up her pace. She's pulling a lot of punches and lands some of them as well. Kellie Harrington doesn't hold back though, her long reach has been effective.

Round 2

- Both players are still getting a feel of the opponent but there have been moments where Sarita has landed some good punches. Kellie Harrington ended the round on a high.

Round 1

- It was a closely fought first round. Sarita Devi content to fight from the back, as she looks for an opening. Both boxers have been careful so far.

 

-Sarita Devi in blue is in action in the lightweight (60kg) category against Ireland's Kellie Anne Harrington. The winner of the bout advances to the quarters.

 

 

She does it! Mary Kom wins her opening bout against Aigerim Kassenayeva courtesy of a unanimous decision.

Round 3: That's the end of the bout. Aigerim makes a fine comeback in the third round but will it prove to be too little too late?

Round 2: What a show! After a cautious start, Mary goes all guns blazing in the second round. She takes the fight to her opponent and throws many a thunderous punch at the Kazakh. Aigerim has a lot to do in the third round.

Round 1: Mary gets off to a composed start. She lands a couple of strong jabs on her opponent and takes no unnecessary risks. A good opening round for the local favourite.
