A two-time Natinal junior champion, Shavinder, who had lost to eventual gold medallist Neeraj in a 51kg first round bout in the previous edition but was lucky to be included in the National camp, emerged as a better boxer in the last one year.

Action on the final day of the World youth women boxing championship at the N. C. Bordoloi Indoor Stadium here was held up for about 50 minutes following a minor fire in one of the spectators' gallery on Sunday.

According to the organisers, all spectators sitting in that gallery were safe.

The incident happened after the first bout when electric wires at one of the entrances to the left side gallery of the stadium got snapped due to friction, resulting in fire. This spread panic and several people from that stand rushed towards the exit.

Officials concerned swung into action to control the situation and 'sort out the issue' following which bouts resumed.
