Iran’s Seyed Khalil Mousavi stunned top seeded Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram to join three others in the lead after seven rounds of the Asian junior chess championship here on Monday.
Mousavi’s victory came after 44 moves in the Queen’s Indian Defence game and took his tally to 5.5 points. S. L. Narayanan, M. Karthikeyan and Rajdeep Sarkar also matched Mousavi’s tally.
In the girls section, Chandreyee Hajra let top seed R. Vaishali off the hook before the two leaders split the point to reach 5.5 points. Two more rounds remain.
