Viswanathan Anand will formally unveil the trophy and greet the participating teams on July 13.

Viswanathan Anand and a host of former Indian chess stars will be present at the unveiling of the Ultimate Table Tennis winner’s trophy. Anand will formally unveil the trophy and greet the participating teams on the first day of the league - July 13 - at Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

Others who will join Anand on the inaugural day are G. Jagannath, V. Chandrashekhar, S. Raman, M.S. Mythili, N.R. Indu and G.E. Sridharan.

The tournament will consist of two teams playing each other in a unique format to decide the winner. Each match will contain nine ‘games’ each, which in turn will be decided in favour of one individual or another via a best-of-three contest of 11 points. The first person to reach 11 will be the winner, regardless of the score, i.e., even if two players are tied at 10-10, the battle will be decided in favour of the player claiming the next point, the ‘Golden Point’, eliminating the concept of ‘deuce’. The team possessing the most won games in a match will be the winner.

The top four Teams from the League Table will qualify for the playoff ties. The playoff ties will comprise two semifinals, which in turn will decide the two finalists.

RP-SG Mavericks and Falcons TTC will play each other in the first match of the league.
