Sharath-Sathiyan lose close final, win silver

The Indian team of Sharath Kamal and G. Sathiyan lost to the English pair of Paul Drinkhall and Liam Pitchford to claim the silver medal in the men's table tennis doubles at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Despite a spirited display, Sharath Kamal and G. Sathiyan had to settle for silver in the men's doubles category here at the Commonwealth Games. In the final, they lost to England’s Paul
Drinkhall and Liam Pitchford 6-11, 12-10, 11-9, 6-11, 6-11.

It was a close match as the Indians fought their way back into the match after losing the first set. It seemed only a matter of time for another great feat but the Indians were unable to keep up the momentum.

Earlier in the day, Sharath lost the men's singles final, too. He was outclassed by Nigeria's Aruna Quadri 12-10, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7. Sharath now has the chance to gain a bronze medal on Sunday

India's Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shankar Shetty won the men’s doubles bronze, defeating Singapore's Pang En Koen Yew and Ethan Po Shao Feng 11-5, 11-6, 12-10.
