Shapoor Zadran, the Afghanistan fast bowler, has survived an assassination attempt by "unknown gunmen" in Kabul, according to a report by Khaama Press, a news agency based in Afghanistan. Khaama Press, according to its website, "is one of the largest news and information source in Afghanistan".

Zadran was attacked on Saturday night when he was travelling in his car with his brother. Zadran was reportedly unhurt after several bullets were sustained by his vehicle. The attackers managed to "flee the area" after the attempt, according to the report.

The 29-year old has played 66 international matches for Afghanistan. He led his side's pace attack during the World Cup in 2015, which was made memorable by Zadran's winning runs in a tight victory against Scotland in a group game, Afghanistan's first and only victory in World Cups.

Zadran also played the World Twenty20 in India last year.
