Ravichandran Ashwin failed to find a breakthrough on the first day of his side Worcestershire’s County Cup fixture against Leicestershire. He bowled 29 overs, conceding 99 runs as Leicestershire pulled up 325-7, courtesy an unbeaten 102 by Neil Dexter.

The visiting side, however, didn’t get off to a good start and lost three quick wickets for 25. However, captain Mark Cosgrove hammered a knock of 74 to steady the ship along with Dexter. In the process, Cosgrove crossed 1,000 championship runs in the year.

Even though bad light delayed Dexter’s ton, he made no mistake in reaching the triple digit—his first of the season.
