Ashwin reached 250 wickets in just 45 Tests.

Ravichandran Ashwin recorded his 250th dismissal when he got the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim, and with that he became the fastest to reach that landmark.

Ashwin achieved the incredible feat in just 45 Tests, next on the list is Dennis Lillee who needed 48 Tests. Earlier in September, he became the fastest Asian and the second fastest in the world to reach 200 wickets.

"Today was one of those days when I started enjoying my spell right from the start. It's going to be an interesting day tomorrow. The wicket is not giving too much help for the spinners, we have to be very very patient in the morning session," Ashwin said.

"It was a delight to bowl in the second innings. I was a little rusty in the first innings, got into a better rhythm in the second innings straightaway, bowling with the new ball.", he said after the day's play.

The Tamil Nadu off-spinner has been in great form for India in the home season, he bagged 28 wickets against England in the recently concluded Test series. He was also awarded the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award in 2016.

He will be hoping to continue in the same vein of form, against Australia, when the two teams clash in a four-match Test series starting later this month.
