It will be an embarrassing situation if two BCCI representatives show up in Dubai for the ICC Board meeting during the world body’s quarterly meeting in UAE from October 12 to 14. The ICC would find the situation tricky to deal with.
Not satisfied with his explanation for missing the ICC Annual Conference in London in July and thereafter the Asian Cricket Council meeting in Bangkok in September, the Committee of Administrators has told the acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary that he cannot represent the BCCI as a director on the ICC Board.

Choudhary had cited visa and health issues for missing the previous ICC and ACC meetings. In his absence, the BCCI was represented by its CEO Rahul Johri, but as an observer.
The acting secretary from Jharkhand has always believed that the Supreme Court order of April 17, 2017 — that named him to attend ICC meetings — would give him that privilege till the Supreme Court revised the order or a change of guard took place, which will happen after the BCCI election on October 23.
With the ICC taking care of travel (first-class air travel) and boarding, for all the ICC directors, one could expect him to leave for Dubai on October 11. Choudhary is nominated by name in the Finance Committee and no other Indian can replace him. Johri will attend the Chief Executive Committee meeting.
Will the CoA head, Vinod Rai nominate his colleagues Diana Edulji or Ravi Thodge for the ICC Board meeting? The question is how will the ICC Board respond if two individuals show up.
Recently Choudhary’s right to convene the selection committee meeting was withdrawn by the CoA.
