With the Test season coming to an end, preparations for the Indian Premier League (IPL) started in full earnest as big stars arrived to start practice for their respective teams.

Mumbai Indians fast bowler Mitchell Johnson arrived in Mumbai and joined the team. Johnson has been in the news for suggesting full time captaincy to India’s stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane.

Following the match, Johnson took to Twitter “Rahane should stay captain! It was a tough series but I believe it should stay on the field with the players”. Johnson did not stop there and attacked Kohli over his recent comments about friendship with Australian players. “Clear difference in class. Smith apologised in the post match interview, Kohli keeps going in press conference,” he tweeted.

He will begin training for IPL under the bowling coach Shane Bond.

"Now that the Test Series is over, getting ready to play with MIpaltan for 2017 season. Should be fun. Thanks to the supporting fans(sic)," Mitchell tweeted.

Gautam Gambhir joined the Kolkata Knight Riders' camp at Eden Gardens.

Suresh Raina, who was dropped from the central contract list by the BCCI, joined the Gujarat Lions training camp. The middle-order batsman will have a lot to prove in the coming IPL if he has to make a comeback to the Indian team.

Australian skipper Steven Smith, who succeeded M.S. Dhoni as the captain of Rising Pune Supergiant, is expected to join his team tomorrow. He will be joined by England all-rounder Ben Stokes who is also IPL’s most expensive buy this year.
