Stuart Broad: "I'm desperate, as I think every England cricketer would be, to play at the 2019 World Cup in England."

Stuart Broad is 'desperate' to represent England at the 2019 World Cup and has vowed to do all he can to fight his way back into the One-Day International (ODI) squad.

The paceman was part of the England team that suffered an embarrassing group stage exit at the 2015 World Cup and Broad has not featured in an ODI since February. Since its 2015 failure, England has established an exciting style in the white-ball format and Broad is concerned that he is not playing enough one-day cricket to force his way into the ODI reckoning.

However, Broad - who has 121 ODI caps - has refused to give up hope of playing at the next World Cup, which will be played in England and Wales. "I'm desperate, as I think every England cricketer would be, to play at the 2019 World Cup in England," Broad told Sky Sports .

"It is a long way away but it will creep up. The tricky part of playing a lot of Test cricket - I've played 48 on the bounce now - is you don't actually get a lot of time to play white-ball cricket so it's quite hard to keep up with the standard in a game that moves forward so quickly.

"I'm trying to find more time to play white-ball cricket. I've got a bit of a proven track record with the white ball, my stats are pretty good in the 50-over stuff, I just need to play a bit more of it."
