Jasprit Bumrah produced a blinder when he ran out Alex Hales with a superb direct hit from the boundary.
Roy shuffled across to work a delivery from Umesh Yadav towards fine-leg but Bumrah covered good ground and his bullet throw, apparently 75 metres from the stumps, caught Hales just short of his ground at the non-striker's end.
The umpire went upstairs for a second opinion but skipper Virat Kohli, who was at the bowler's end, knew Hales was out the moment the ball dislodged the bails as he ran towards Bumrah to celebrate. The third umpire confirmed the inevitable.
However, Hales has himself to blame as there was a momentary pause, at the striker's end, when he took off for the second and his refusal to put in a dive only further sealed his fate.
Alex Hales departed in the seventh over of the innings for nine runs after facing 18 deliveries.
