Uncapped all-rounder Hilton Cartwright was named for Australia's One-Day International series against New Zealand, while Pat Cummins is set for his return.
Cartwright, 24, was included in a 14-man squad for the three-match series in Australia in December.
In 27 List A matches, Cartwright averages 26.50 with the bat and 39.08 with the ball.
During Australia's recent 50-over domestic competition, he scored just 101 runs at an average of 16.83 and took four wickets at 27.75.
"Hilton bowls useful aggressive medium-pace and is a very good striker of the ball," Australia's interim chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns said.
"He is an exciting young prospect for Australian cricket and we have been watching him at the pathway level for some time now."
Meanwhile, Cummins could make his first international appearance since September 2015. The injury-riddled paceman is set to join the likes of Mitchell Starc and James Faulkner in leading the attack.
"It is fantastic to see Pat back in Australian colours again," Hohns said.
"It has been a frustrating period for him but we are certainly excited to have him fit and firing ahead of this series."
The first match of the series is in Sydney on December 4.
