Chris Gayle became the first batsman to score 20 centuries in T20 cricket against Dhaka Dynamites in the final of the Bangladesh Premier League at Dhaka on Tuesday.

The next batsmen with the most number of T20 hundreds are Brendon McCullum, Luke Wright and Michael Klinger with seven.

Gayle also smashed 18 sixes in the innings, a new world record, bettering his record of 17 while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL in 2013.

Gayle, playing for Rangpur Riders, finished unbeaten on 146 off only 69 balls. He was involved in a 201-run stand for the second wicket with McCulum, the highest ever partnership in a T20 final.

The 38-year-old also became the first player to go past the 11,000 run mark in the format. He made his T20 debut in 2005.
