Clean Sports India in support of Kirti Azad

Clean Sports India (CSI), a movement aiming at clean and fair sports governance, in a statement offered its support to Kirti Azad, who was suspended from Bharatiya Janata Party. Azad has supposedly participated in a campaign against party member Arun Jaitley for alleged corruption in Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA).

Kirt Azad was suspended from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for alleged 'anti-party activities'.

Clean Sports India (CSI), a movement for corruption-free sports, today offered its support to cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad, who has been suspended by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for leading a campaign against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on alleged corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). “Clean Sports India strongly condemns the action of BJP to suspend Kirti Azad, who is fighting against corruption in DDCA,” the CSI said in a statement.

“CSI is saddened to note the silence of former cricketers on this issue. Most of the former cricketers, except few like Bishan Singh Bedi, are compromised with corrupt cricket management of India,” it added. CSI called on former Olympians and other sportspersons to support Azad in his “fight against corruption in sports“.

BJP had accused Azad of indulging in anti-party activities and “colluding” with Congress and AAP to bring the party into “disrepute“. The action of the BJP Parliamentary Board to suspend him from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect came after his press conference attacking Jaitley and subsequent acts of defiance both inside and outside Parliament.
