Cricket Australia (CA) plans to appoint a new head coach and one-day international captain before for the limited-overs tour of the UK.

The CA board held a meeting on Friday to discuss the process of recruiting a successor to head coach Darren Lehmann, who resigned in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal last month despite being cleared of having any knowledge of the plot.

CA this week denied reports that Western Australia coach Justin Langer is set to get the nod to replace Lehmann.

Australia are also without an ODI skipper and vice-captain after Steve Smith and David Warner were banned for a year for their part in the Newlands ball-tampering fiasco.

David Peever, the CA chairman, said there will be no rush to confirm the appointments.

"The board has asked management to provide recommendations regarding candidates for the men's head coach, ODI captain and ODI vice-captain," Peever said.

"The board is anticipating receiving these recommendations in the coming weeks, with a view to making appointments ahead of the ODI tour to the UK.

"Once these appointments have been endorsed and finalised, announcements can then be made."

Australia play the first of five ODIs against England on June 13 and face Eoin Morgan's men in a Twenty20 on June 27.
