MS Dhoni almost scripted an unthinkable act in Chennai's one-run defeat to Bangalore. The visitor required 26 runs off the final over and Dhoni began the final assault with a boundary.
The next ball was dispatched over the M. Chiinnaswamy Stadium roof as Dhoni smacked a short of length delivery for six.
The Chennai skipper then followed it up with another six over long-off.
A mistimed shot fetched Dhoni a couple of runs to bring the equation down to eight runs from two deliveries.
Dhoni then clubbed Umesh Yadav for a six; this time the ball flew over the deep mid-wicket boundary.
With two required off the final delivery, Umesh deceived Dhoni with a slower ball and despite the Chennai skipper setting off for a single straightaway, Shardul Thakur fell inches short of his crease as Parthiv Patel sealed the match with a direct hit.
