En route to his 10th One-Day International century, M. S. Dhoni became the first Indian to hit more than 200 sixes in his career. Dhoni’s belligerent 134 aided > India’s 15-run triumph over England in the second ODI in Cuttack. His 256-run partnership with Yuvraj Singh was the cornerstone of India’s daunting 50-over total of 381 for 6.

He reached the milestone of 200 sixes with a lofted hit off seamer Chris Woakes over long-on in the 43rd over.

Dhoni is positioned fourth in the all-time list of six hitters in the format. Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi, who retired from ODIs after the World Cup in 2015, leads the pack with 351 sixes in 398 matches. He is followed by Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya (270) and West Indies’ Chris Gayle (238). Dhoni now has 203 sixes in 285 matches, three ahead of New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum.

Dhoni has 9250 career runs in ODIs, the 16th highest in a list led by Sachin Tendulkar, who has 18426 runs. Dhoni needs 35 more runs to eclipse Aravinda de Silva and move up a spot. India’s Mohammad Azharuddin has 128 more runs than Dhoni.

Dhoni, however, lies 27th in the list of highest four-hitters. Yuvraj is ahead of him in this category, occupying the 17th spot.
