Before getting into the Indian Premier League (IPL) groove, Dhoni reached the company’s headquarters in Mumbai on Monday to work as the CEO. Dressed in corporate attire — blue suit, white shirt, and a tie —Dhoni made sure that he looked the part.

His old friend Arun Pandey, who manages Dhoni’s commercial interests, confirmed the development, saying that both Dhoni and the company had been trying to fix this ‘special day’ for a long time. “As a CEO of the company for the day, Mahi has attended all the special meetings of the company. He will also take quite a few decisions, just like a real CEO,” Pandey told Sportstar on Monday afternoon.

With the company deciding to keep the news as a surprise, most of the employees were in for a shock when they saw the former India captain walking in as the CEO. “Mahi’s association with the company goes back a long way, and for a long time, he also wanted to understand how a corporate CEO works,” Pandey said.

Dhoni’s association with the automobile lubricant giant dates back to 2011, when he was named the brand ambassador for Gulf Oil. Having been associated with the star cricketer for years, the company invited Dhoni to visit the office and take charge as a CEO for a day, which Dhoni accepted immediately. “He wanted to try this out too,” Pandey said.

Before the power-packed IPL gets underway in a couple of days, this is one outing Dhoni would certainly remember for a long time!
