Dodda Ganesh...“The next target is the 2019 World Cup.”

Former India pacer Dodda Ganesh has applied for the role of the Indian cricket team's head coach.

“I checked the criteria and found myself eligible,” Ganesh told Sportstar . “I have past Test playing experience. As I cricketer I have also toured abroad (West Indies and South Africa). I have played club cricket in England.”

“And I have been coaching since 2002. I have coached in the Karnataka Premier League. I was involved with the National Cricket Academy, the under-16, under-19 teams. For four years I have been a state selector. Now I leave it to the BCCI. If they call me for the interview, I am ready with presentations on my vision for the team, the short-term and long-term goals.”

Asked what that vision for the team was, Ganesh, who played four Tests and a lone ODI for India, said the 2019 World Cup will take centre-stage.

“The next target is the 2019 World Cup. We have all watched 10 years of [Indian Premier League]. Most international cricketers have come here. So I know about their strengths, weaknesses, the road maps they have. Also what are our strengths, weaknesses, where we have to work etc. I will present all that in the interview.”
