The availability of Indian stars, Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay, will be the determining factor in scheduling the dates for the second edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
The organisers, keen to ensure the participation of the duo for the entire duration of the tournament, will look to hold the event before India’s tour of Sri Lanka in August.
“We want Ashwin and Vijay to be available. So, it will be hosted before the Sri Lanka tour. We are looking at mid-July,” TNCA media manager Dr. R. N. Baba told Sportstar .
After successfully hosting the first edition last year, the TNCA has also decided to add one more ground to the league. “Guru Nanak ground will be the latest addition. A lot of them had shown interest, but keeping the infrastructure in mind, only the Guru Nanak ground has been selected,” Baba added.
Executive Committee meeting in 10 days
The final decision on both will need to be cleared at the Executive Committee meeting, which is slated to be held over the next 10 days. The TNCA was unable to hold the meeting in the last three months, following the Lodha Panel recommendations.
The TNPL features eight teams, representing eight districts. Albert Tuti Patriots won the inaugural season, beating Chepauk Super Gilles by 122 runs in the final.
