Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has appointed Sanath Kumar as its head coach for two years.
The state association officials confirmed that Kumar — who had previously served Baroda as a coach — will take charge from July 15. “We had shortlisted four to five candidates, but zeroed in on Kumar as he is the best candidate,” one of the BCA officials said.
According to the official, Kumar will draw a remuneration of Rs 40 lakh in the first year and the amount will go up to Rs 45 lakh in the next year.
The association also appointed Afzal Khan as the trainer. Last season, Kumar was named the head coach of Meghalaya.
