A broken jaw did not deter Unmukt Chand from taking the field against Uttar Pradesh and cracking a century to ensure a Delhi victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament match at Bilaspur.

Unmukt was hit on the jaw when he was going through a physical drill. The ball crashed through the 'nets' and hit Unmukt while he was lying on the ground. “It was a freak accident really. Obviously I was stunned and needed medical attention,” said the Delhi opener.

He batted with a strapped jaw and later fielded too despite the pain. “I have been advised a surgery but I would delay it until this tournament gets over. I will have to be on a liquid diet for a month at least,” added Unmukt.
