Hyderabad players pose with the trophy after beating TNCA President's XI in the final.

A century partnership between K. Sumanth (77 not out) and K. Rohit Rayudu (47 not out) powered Hyderabad to an eight-wicket win over TNCA President’s XI in the final of the Kalpathi AGS - Buchi Babu All-India Invitation cricket tournament here on Friday.

Needing 25 runs off 70 overs with nine wickets in hand, especially after a night's rest, meant one intuitively certain outcome — a win for Hyderabad. Considering its might of bat was better than all teams in as far as the tournament is concerned, there were no surprises.

The only damage, or scare if you may, that TNCA President's XI caused was a run out. Opener Tanmay Agarwal (35, 78b, 5x4) failed to beat Malolan Rangarajan's throw from mid-on to the non-striker's end.

Otherwise, Rohit Rayudu (47, 100b, 7x4) and Kolla Sumanth (77, 115b, 11x4, 1x6), with an unbeaten 113-run third-wicket stand, took Hyderabad home with eight wickets to spare.
