Aditya Sarwate was the key man for Vidarbha in the final. He took 11 for 157 in the match and made a crucial 49 in Vidarbha's second innings, to help set Saurashtra a 200-plus target in the fourth innings. He provided the first breakthrough on the fifth morning by dismissing Kamlesh Makvana with an arm ball that the right-hander chose not to play, only to see the ball hit top of off stump and open the floodgates for Vidarbha.

Sheldon Jackson, Saurashtra's middle-order batsman, fell trying to play an expansive stroke against Akshay Wakhare towards the end of Day 4. He was the last of the specialist batsmen for Saurashtra, which was trying to avoid a third straight loss in the Ranji Trophy final.

Jaydev Unadkat celebrates the wicket of Akshay Wadkar in the second innings. The Vidarbha wicketkeeper-batsman was out for nought and Vidarbha was reduced to 73 for five, an overall lead of just 78. The defending champion staged a recovery through Aditya Sarwate and contributions from Akshay Karnewar and Umesh Yadav.

Snell Patel was the only centurion in the final. He was Saurashtra's only top-order batsman who played a substantial innings as wickets fell around him. He was eventually caught behind for 102 off the bowling of Umesh Yadav.
