Laxmipathy Balaji has announced his retirement from all forms of the game here on Saturday and will not be available to take the field for Albert TUTI Patriots in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League.

A TNPL press release added that the former India bowler will be replaced by S. Aravind, a left-handed opening batsman and a left-arm orthodox bowler, in the defending champion squad.

"I have not retired; I am still part of the support staff aspect. I have not missed the game," Balaji said.

"Because the game has been pulling me and I am enjoying my game," he added.

Balaji will continue to mentor the Tuticorin side in its bid to retain the title.

The 35-year-old had announced his retirement from first-class cricket in September last year.
