India opener M. Vijay has been left out of the Tamil Nadu side for its remaining three matches of the Vijay Hazare one-day tournament.

In a statement, the TNCA said, “The State Selection committee of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has replaced M. Vijay with  Pradosh Ranjan Paul .  This was after M. Vijay failed to report for today’s Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day Group `C’ league match against Mumbai due to shoulder pain which neither the state selection committee, the team Physio nor the TNCA were aware of.”

It is learnt that the TNCA is very unhappy about Vijay not giving prior information about his fitness issue to the coach, the captain, the physio or the selectors ahead of Thursday’s crucial match against Mumbai.

When asked for Vijay’s absence from the match and the ground, Tamil Nadu captain Vijay Shankar said, “It seems he [Vijay] has some niggle. But I don’t know what niggle. I don’t have any information.”
