Jammu and Kashmir skipper Parvez Rasool was happy about the team's performance on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy season despite being short on preparation due to the disturbing situation in Kashmir.

After the first day's play against Kerala at the CAB Academy ground here, Rasool lauded his bowlers for picking seven Kerala wickets for 263 runs.

“We had two days of practice after coming here. I was playing Duleep Trophy, so my preparation was fine. The rest were preparing on their own. After all, we are professionals. We have to do it,” said Rasool.

“As a team, I feel we are a bit short on practice. But that's fine. Today we bowled well and hopefully we will bat well on this track. We have enough time in our hands to make up for this. The more matches we play, the faster we will overcome this... Everyone knows that we never had a camp this time."

Jammu and Kashmir's media manager Rajesh Dhar, however, gave a rosy picture of the team's preparation. "There was no problem as far as our preparation was concerned. We had a one month camp. Our preparations were badly affected when the state was affected by flood," he said.
