Playing against his former team Delhi for the first time, Virender Sehwag couldn’t score big as his current team Haryana were bundled out for 195.
“If u r true fan of sehwag then come to Kotla n watch the game,” tweeted Sehwag, a few hours before Haryana’s match against Delhi--his former team.
Gautam Gambhir, the Delhi skipper, won the toss and chose to bowl.Ishant Sharma rewarded his captain on the seventh over, getting rid of Rahul Dewan for 16.
Sehwag walked out, with the score 20 for one. There were around 30 of them at Feroz Shah Kotla, when he took guard against Ishant. The numbers weren’t high; but the level of excitement probably was.
Sehwag was out after spending 81 minutes in the crease but his innings was fun while it lasted. He treated his fans with some delightful strokes. On one occasion, he danced down to hit Manan Sharma over wide long-on, next to the stand where his fans were sitting.
In the next over, he tried to gamble a single after pushing the ball towards Ishant at mid-on. But Ishant’s direct-hit was too good for Sehwag’s running.
The Haryana innings didn’t last very long after that, as they were folded for 195, with spinner Manan Sharma taking five wickets. Delhi, who got nine overs to bat, scored 22 without losing a wicket.
Manish Pandey hits ton
In Bengaluru, Manish Pandey’s century aided Karnataka in scoring 298 at the end of play against Vidarbha. After being asked to bat by Vidarbha at the toss, openers KL Rahul and Robin Uthappa gave them a decent start. But KL Rahul, who is looking to return to the test side, was out scoring just 21.
Number three Samarth and Uthappa was constructing another partnership before the former got out for 20. After Uthappa was also dismissed, Karun Nair joined Pandey in the middle. The pair then batted for 35 overs, adding 148 runs before Nair lost his wicket.
