Himachal Pradesh rode on centuries by opener Prashant Chopra (187) and Robin Bist (101) to pile up a massive 551 in their Group C Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra at Rajkot on Monday.

After the visiting side’s innings ended 551 all out in 168.1 overs at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, the hosts reached 21 for no loss when the stumps were drawn on the second day.

Resuming at their overnight score of 310 for three, Himachal Pradesh, besides Chopra and Bist, were well served by Nikhi Gangta (77) and Rishi Dhawan (55).

At close of play, Saurashtra trailed by 530 runs with 10 wickets remaining in their first innings.

Meanwhile in Kanpur Vijay Shankar stood out with an excellent 92 even as Tamil Nadu went on the back foot on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Group B match against Uttar Pradesh at the Green Park here.

Beginning from its overnight total of 277 for four, Uttar Pradesh managed 348 in its first essay. Tamil Nadu recovered from six for three wickets, but again lost its way to finish the day at 174 for six.
