An aircraft from Indore to Delhi carrying members of Delhi’s Ranji Trophy squad stopped abruptly at the runway at the Devi Ahalya Bai Holkar airport late on Tuesday. That eventually led to the cancellation of the flight and the cricketers had to check in at a city hotel.

Delhi lost the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha on Monday.

It is learnt that the Indigo flight 867, originally scheduled for 9.20pm on Tuesday, was initially delayed due to technical snag. And around 10.20pm, the flight was grounded at the runway a few seconds before taking off. The airline admitted that the pilot had to take such a step after facing some engine issues.

Frustrating

"Indigo flt 867 abruptly stopped at runway citing technical issues. Stranded at Indore airport now. Hoping to gt a hotel soon.Frustating for ppl.Me enjoying d arguments.U cnt really do much in such cases.Rather accept it.Be at ease.Dnt resist wt cnt happen. Gratitude evry1 is safe," Delhi cricketer and former India U-19 captain, Unmukt Chand, tweeted.

Another cricketer, who was in the team, later told Sportstar , "The flight was anyway delayed by an hour. And moment before taking off, there was a big shake. The flight suddenly stopped. We did not know what had happened."

The cricketers were accommodated to other flights on Wednesday morning. The Vidarbha players, however, left for Nagpur on Wednesday morning, via Mumbai.
